I’m at an SCA event this week where the weather is sunny and gorgeous, something that is somewhat rare where I live. It’s a perfect time to take pictures of my camp. I hope you enjoy this new gallery.
- The jurta with a new door and roof ring. The belly band is also new this year having languished in my project pile for years. It was finished for me in December by a dear friend.
- A iew of the new roof ring looking up from within the space. I never tire of the view.
- My husband built this bed based on a viking age bed from Gokstad. It fully disassembles for easy transport and is very comfortable. I’m past that age where I am okay with sleeping on the ground.
- The is one of a pair of plainly constructed wooden boxes that I painted several years ago. The designs are traditional khazak positive/negative motifs. I thought this photo of the box in the light of the roof ring came out well.
- Here is the other painted box. The motifs go all the way around the boxes. I use this one to store all the yurt bling, tent bands and such.
- This woodenbox, built in a Viking age style, is one of my favorites. In case you haven’t noticed, I tend to draw on the Viking style to fill in the gaps where the Magyar body of archeological finds are scarce.
- this wooden plank built chest serves as my husbands clothing box. I traded card woven leg wraps for it.
- thisbag this is a beautifl woven saddle bag that demonstrates a variety of different textile weaving techniques. I purchased this bag from a merchant.
- I love this bench so much. I’ve had it for almost a year and it has been a wonderful addition to my encampment. I commissioned it from yet *another* talented wood working friend.
- These are my new kitchen boxes made by my talented husband. This is the first event that we have gotten to use them. He will be carving the lids rounded like the original.
- Felt shrydaks imported from Khazakstan.
